The Challenge

Atlas had 40 years of satellite data and a mission: make climate change legible to people who aren't climate scientists. The data was rich; the existing experience was a wall of toggles that even researchers struggled to use.

Our Approach

We reframed the platform around stories, not datasets. Each chapter pairs a single, legible visualization with a short editorial piece — built in WebGL for performance, with progressive disclosure so casual readers and expert users each get the right depth. A custom rendering pipeline keeps 4K imagery smooth on mid-range laptops.

The Outcome

Atlas crossed 2M sessions in the first quarter and was cited in three major outlets. Average session time tripled, and the team's research submissions — their core revenue driver — doubled. The visualization framework now powers a companion education product.
